The frequency of F-Gas leak checks depends on the amount of refrigerant contained within the equipment and its global warming potential. Depending on these factors, leak checks may be required every 12, 6 or 3 months. We can assess your equipment, advise you on your requirements and recommend an appropriate maintenance schedule.

If your equipment contains 5 tonnes or more of CO₂ equivalent of F-Gas, you must keep records for at least five years. These records should include the quantity and type of gas contained in the equipment, the quantity and type added or recovered during maintenance, the dates and results of leak checks, and details of any measures taken to recover or dispose of the gas.

We can help you maintain the required records for your F-Gas equipment, giving you a clear record of servicing, leak checks and any remedial work carried out.

Any engineer working with refrigerants must be certified under F-Gas Regulations. Always verify your contractor is listed on the official F-Gas register.

 Look for:

• F-Gas certification (legal requirement in the UK) 
• Proven experience with commercial projects 
• Examples of previous installations in similar environments 
• Understanding of specialist environments (e.g. data rooms, medical rooms) 
• Ensure the system has an appropriate electrical supply. It should be connected directly to a dedicated circuit from the distribution board (consumer unit), rather than      shared with other equipment, so it can be safely isolated when required.
• Ability to design systems, not just install them 
• Clear maintenance and aftercare offering 

A good engineer will focus on lifecycle cost, reliability and compliance, not just installation.
